Therapeutix Clear Skin System

 Therapeutix Clear Skin System

Therapeutix Clear Skin System is an acne solution developed by Dr. Luftman, a Board Certified Dermatologist based in Beverly Hills and is also a clinical faculty member at UCLA. Dr. Luftman’s Therapeutix is different for a few other anti-acne systems since it does not contain harsh ingredients such as alcohol or Benzoyl Peroxide. While those products with harsher ingredients may reduce acne , they can also strip the skin of its natural oils, and also cause dryness and irritation. Therapeutix also provides SPF protection, which isn’t commonly found in acne products. Therapeutix’s website claims protection from the sun is important since acne-prone skin is more susceptible to sun damage, inflammation, and scarring.

The Therapeutix Clear Skin solution is a three step process like many other acne fighting systems. However, it does not use a toner like other acne solutions. It includes a clarifying cleanser, a moisturizing acne scar treatment with SPF protection, and a night lotion. Also, included is an emergency outbreak stick. The system uses what the company calls AcneZone Technology. It is their trademarked anti-acne solution which uses ingredients such as Salicylic Acid, Azelaic Acid, Retinol, Glycolic Acid, and Zinc.

What I liked about their product is that they do not contain oils, fragrances, parabens or dyes. I ordered Therapeutix for my teenage son to try over a year ago. The results were fairly good and he claims the product feels gentle and doesn’t irritate the skin like other acne treatments he used. He was using it for about three to four months. Since then, we have tried a few different acne solutions for him. It appears for my son and other people, after using an acne product for so long, their bodies developed a natural tolerance to the product and it becomes less effective.

The retail price of Therapeutix is around $60 for a 60 day supply. Currently they are offering a 30-day free trial, where you have to pay $6.95 in shipping and handling.

Update: The free trial offer of Therapeutix has expired.

Below is a brief review and information on each of the products included in Therapeutix.

Therapeutix Clear Skin System

Here is a picture of whats included in the entire Therapeutix Clear Skin System and what my son has been using for a while last year. We still have a little left over that is unused. The company was clever enough to label the front of the products with “Twice Daily” ,” Once Daily”, and “At Night” so even teenagers unfamiliar with skin care products can quickly grasp how to use them.

The Clarity Clarifying Cleanser should be used twice daily, once in the morning and once at night, to remove oil, dirt, debri, and other harmful atmospheric pollutants from the skin. It is also stated to be excellent at removing make-up. The main ingredients in the cleanser are Salicylic, Glycolic, Hyaluronic acid and Hazel extract. The ingredients are fairly mild and should be okay on sensitive skin types.

The Care & Repair SPF 15 Moisturizing Lotion helps treat acne scars, keeps the skin hydrated, and also provides protection from the sun. The product is oil-free and claims to offer a broad spectrum of UVA & UVB protection. Ingredients include Vitamin A, Vitamin E which helps minimize the appearance of new and existing scars. It also contains Matrixyl 3000, which is a peptide smoothes and resurfaces the skin, diminishing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The sunscreen ingredients in the lotion are Octinoxate 7.5%, Octisalate 5%, and Titanium Dioxide 3%. It is used once daily and can be worn under makeup.

The Clear Complex Night Lotion is be used at night before going to sleep, as the name suggests, in order to help skin repair itself at night while resting. Ingredients used include Salicylic Acid , Azelaic Acid, Glycolic Acid. They work to shed away dead skin cells and promote faster skin healing. Glyocolic Acid also aids in exfoliating the skin  to increase cellular turnover and collagen production. There is also Vitamin A and Zinc to help nourish and soothe the skin.

The included free bonus Emergency Outbreak Stick is designed as a portable acne solution. It is around the size of a pen and is used when necessary. You just take off the cap and apply it to your acne. The Emergency Outbreak Stick uses 2% Salicylic Acid, a slightly stronger dosage than the other products in Therapeutix which use 0.5% Salicylic acid. It also has some skin-brightening and exfoliating ingredients such as fruit acids and botanicals. The outbreak stick is designed to quickly reduce redness and swelling of pimples.
