For last few months, I have been using rose hip oil as part of my daily skin care routine. Rose hip oil is extracted from the seeds of the red berries that grow on the natural rose bushes found in parts of Chile. Sometime it is called “Rosa Mosqueta Oil” or “Oil of Mosqueta” because the people in Chile call those rose bushes “Rosa Mosqueta”.
Rose hips oil has quite a few benefits on the skin. It is been known to keep the skin hydrated, help reduce the appearance of scars, and help nourish the skin. It is a good product for those with dry, sensitive, aging, or wrinkled skin. Many people claimed that rose hip oil helped them reduce the appearance of scars left behind by acne.
Rose hip oil contains a high amount of natural tretinoin, a form of Vitamin A. Tretinoin has been known to reduce and protect the skin from damage that may be caused by the sun. It also aids the skin in producing collagen and new skin cells. This gives rose hip oils the ability to reduce the appearance of scars.
Rose hip oil is very affordable. While there are many companies producing rose hip oils, most 1 oz bottles should cost under $20. In fact, there are many being sold at under $10 a bottle. Those that are organic or natural are preferred.
Here is the current bottle of rose hip oil I am using. In addition to rose hip oil, it also has Vitamin E and Squalene oil added to it. The Squalene oil in it, is an antioxidant that protects your skin from environmental damage. The Vitamin E works with the squalene oil to help enrich it. Vitamin E is another effective antioxidant.
I generally use it as part of the skin care routine with other skin care products. I apply a little bit before going out with other lotions and use it at night after cleansing my face. Since it is an oil, it does feel very greasy after applying it to your skin. The feeling goes away after a while though.
Of course, rose hips oil might not work well for everyone. It is generally not recommended for those with oily skin.
