At Home Microdermabrasion Systems

It seems that personal microdermabrasion devices have become fairly popular recently. Quite a few of my friends have bought one or have been talking about them. Before, microdermabrasion was only performed at spas and doctor’s offices. However, now with many at home microdermabrasion devices being produced, the process has become much more popular. While they are not as powerful as those performed in facilities, they still produce good results over time.

Microdermabrasion devices massage away dead skin cells on the surface of our skin with tiny particles. As a result, this speeds up the process of our skin producing new living cells, called exfoliation. This is important since our as skin gets older, it gets harder and harder to rejuvenate the outer layer of damaged skin cells. By enhancing the process of exfoliation, it helps the skin become smoother and reduces the appearances of scars.

The process for many of the different at home microdermabrasion devices are similar. You first apply the included cream to your face. This cream generally contains crystal particles that helps remove scarred and dead skin tissue. Next, you turn on the hand held device and use it to massage the cream into your face. You only have to massage the different areas of your face for a minute or two each. Most of the devices are gentle and so the process is pain free. After you are finished, you rinse off your face.

Some of these microdermabrasion kits include a cream that you apply to your face after the process. Others may not but you can use just a mild night cream if they do not.

I just recently tried one of these devices at my friend’s house. I must admit my skin did feel very smooth after using it. That is what got me interested in researching different microdermabrasion devices online and why I wrote this article. A Japanese company made the microdermabrasion device my friend had. It was fairly expensive with a price tag well over $200. However, you can find home microdermabrasion devices at much cheaper prices, as low as $30.

Below are some of the microdermabrasion devices that caught my interest when looking at different ones online.

DermaNew Facial Rejuvenation System Kit. This microdermabrasion device from Dermanew have gotten some fairly positive reviews online. It appears to be a very good balance between price and quality at $70. What I like about this product is that it claims to work just as well for those with sensitive skin like me. The creme that comes with the system uses Corundum Crystals and also have added antioxidants that polish and resurface the skin. The antioxidants in the creme comes from natural plants and helps nourish deep below the surface of the skin. I am personally leaning towards this product for myself.

Update: A 30 day free trial offer of DermaNew is now available

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Rejuvenator. At only around $35, the price is definitely a big plus for this microdermabrasion product. The reviews on Amazon were largely positive. Instead of using a cream, this device uses one time use puffs. These puffs contains the ultra tiny crystals packed inside them. You simply attach them to the device and massage your face with it. Once your done, you throw the puff away and attach a new one when you use the device again. The kit includes 12 rejuvanating puffs. The puffs refills are a set of 24 for around $20.

Pretika ST236 Sonicdermabrasion Facial Care System. At under $60, this seems to be another fairly good deal. The Pretika ST236 claims to have “sonic” technology which seperates it from other microdermabrasion devices with spinning brushes. The sonic technology allows the device to rotate 630 times per minute. This may help the device produce some better results than similar products in the same amount of time, although I’m a little skeptical on the matter.
